GOVERNANCE

BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
Southeast NM Community Action Corporation has been designated by the State of New Mexico as the Community Action Program (CAP) for Chaves, Eddy, Lea, Lincoln and Otero counties. As the designated CAP, law designates governance requirements. SNMCAC has a volunteer fifteen member Board of Directors. The Board of Directors represents a tripartite composition equally representing the Private Sector, Pubic Official Sector, and the Low-Income Sector. Board Members must live in Chaves, Eddy, Lea, Lincoln, or Otero counties.

The SNMCAC Board of Directors has designated meeting dates in January, March, May, July, September and November. In addition, special meetings may be called as needed.

ADVISORY COUNCIL:
Programs operated by SNMCAC may also have advisory councils as designated by statute. The advisory councils provide a very valuable contribution to SNMCAC by providing advice and guidance for program administration.

The SNMCAC Head Start Program has a Policy Council that is comprised of Community Representatives and Parents from each center operated by SNMCAC and its delegate agency. In addition, Parent Committees are active at each center.

The SNMCAC Foster Grandparent/Senior Companion Program has an Advisory Council comprised of Community Representatives, Foster Grandparents and Senior Companions.

The SNMCAC Senior Citizens Program has a Program Advisory Council comprised of Community Representatives and Senior Participants that assist with the governance of the program.
